E-shoe?

+

Ok, so I got some 'splainin to do up front here, I know. I can hear you from here: "What the Funyun is an 'E-shoe'?" Well, the thought goes thusly.

The way to say "around the world" in Japanese is sekai isshu (世界一周), so we wanted to take the isshu from that. But of course, some genius already came up with that name for a blog (and isn't doing a damn thing with it, I might add)...but E-Shoe wasn't!

"E-shoe" roughly approximates how you pronounce isshu, so there you go. As an added bonus, the word for "good" in Japanese is ii (いい), so if you reach a little with me we arrive at "good shoe." A good pair of shoes are both one of the more vital pieces of equipment you will take with you on any extensive trip and the most basic mode of transportation.

You may also be thinking that this sounds faintly reminiscent of "issue," but you'd be mistaken. We're perfect, there's no way those ugly things would ever darken our doorstep.

And there you have it! E-shoe in a nutshell... or shoe box.
